Wayanad
is one of the fourteen districts of Kerala. This district
situated in the North-Eastern part of Kerala was formed
in November 1, 1980. The name Wayanad originated from
the expression ‘Vayal Nadu’, meaning ‘The
Village of Paddy Fields’. This green paradise
is located at a distance of 76 kilometers from the nearest
sea shore of Calicut. Wayanad hosts picturesque mist-clad
Hill stations, sprawling spice plantations, luxuriant
forests and wide variety of flora and fauna. Mountains
and forests interspace to create numerous outback trails,
trekking routes and opportunities for other adventurous
sports.
